1. Definitions

Seller / Company: Antiquariaat De Vries & De Vries
Buyer / Customer: Any natural or legal person placing an order via the webshop.
Items: Antique maps, prints, engravings, and related goods offered for sale through the webshop.
Website: devriesendevries.nl and all associated webpages.

2. Scope of Application

These General Terms & Conditions apply to all offers, orders, sales, and deliveries made through the webshop, unless explicitly agreed otherwise in writing. By placing an order, the buyer confirms acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.

3. Description & Authenticity of Items

• All items offered are original copperplate engravings, steel engravings, or woodcuts, published at or near the stated date unless otherwise specified.
• Colours are hand-applied unless indicated otherwise.
• “Contemporary colour” refers to colouring executed at or around the time of publication.
• Measurements are provided in centimetres (height × width), excluding margins.
• Items are in good condition unless stated otherwise.
• Minor imperfections consistent with age are normal.
• Significant flaws, repairs, or restorations are mentioned in the description.
• All items are subject to prior sale and remain the property of Antiquariaat De Vries & De Vries until full payment has been received.

4. Condition Grading

Condition descriptions are subjective. The following categories are used:

• Very Fine: Clean, bright impression with strong image quality.
• Fine: Clean image with minor imperfections (e.g. wormholes, light toning, small separations).
• Very Good: No significant imperfections; any flaws or repairs are noted.
• Good: Noticeable imperfections but still collectible (e.g. foxing, weaker image, longer separations).

Condition notes are provided to the best of our knowledge.

5. Pricing & Taxes

Prices are stated in Euros (€) and exclude shipping costs.

• Netherlands: €7.50
• European Union: €15
• Outside the EU: on request (please contact us for an exact quote)
• Orders above €100: free shipping within the EU

Taxes may vary (21%, 9%, or 0%) depending on the applicable margin scheme. Final tax calculation is shown during checkout.

6. Ordering Process

• The buyer places an order via the webshop.
• The buyer receives an automated confirmation email.
• The seller verifies availability and sends written confirmation.
• The contract is concluded once the seller confirms the order.
• If an item is unavailable, the seller will notify the buyer and cancel or refund the order.

7. Payment Conditions

We accept:

• PayPal
• iDEAL
• Bank transfer
• Major credit cards

All international bank transfer fees are borne by the buyer. Payment must be completed before shipment unless agreed otherwise.

8. Retention of Ownership

All items remain the property of Antiquariaat De Vries & De Vries until payment has been received in full.

9. Shipping & Delivery

• Worldwide shipping via DHL, DPD, or TNT.
• Orders are shipped on the next business day.
• Shipping confirmation and tracking details are provided when applicable.
• Items may be shipped flat or in tubes, depending on characteristics.

Shipping Risk: Shipment risk lies with the buyer. Insured shipping is available upon request.
Delivery times are estimates and may vary due to postal or customs delays.

10. Return & Refund Policy

Purchases may be returned within 7 days of receipt for a full refund of the purchase price (excluding shipping costs).

• Buyer must notify us by email or phone before returning the item.
• Items must be returned in the same condition and properly packaged.
• Returns must be sent by registered mail or courier and adequately insured.
• Return shipping costs are borne by the buyer.
• Refunds are issued within 2 business days after receipt of the returned item.

If the item is not returned in original condition, the buyer may be liable for any loss in value.

11. Right of Withdrawal (EU Customers)

Private customers in the EU may exercise a 14-day right of withdrawal for distance purchases. Because the items sold are antique and unique, returns are accepted only if the item is returned in identical condition. Professional buyers have no right of withdrawal.

12. Security Policy & Data Protection

13. Intellectual Property

All website content, including photographs, descriptions, and logo, is the property of Antiquariaat De Vries & De Vries and may not be copied, reproduced, or used without written permission.

14. Liability

The seller is not liable for:

• Losses due to delayed delivery caused by carriers or customs
• Damage caused by improper handling after receipt
• Indirect or consequential damages
• Minor imperfections typical of antique items

Liability is always limited to the invoice amount of the item concerned.

15. Force Majeure

The seller is not liable for delays or failure to perform caused by events beyond reasonable control, including natural disasters, strikes, transport disruptions, or technical failures.

16. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

All agreements are governed by Dutch law. Disputes shall be submitted to the competent court in Amsterdam unless mandatory consumer law provides otherwise.

17. Amendments to Terms & Conditions

Antiquariaat De Vries & De Vries may modify these Terms & Conditions at any time. The applicable version is the one in effect on the date the order was placed.
