The handcoloured map includes towns such as Alkmaar, Hoorn, Enkhuizen, Edam, and Marken, as well as rural areas like Schermer, Purmer, and Wieringen.
The engraving measures 45.5 x 55.5 cm and is in very good condition, with Latin text on the reverse. Decorative ships sail across the waters, adding character and movement to the composition. Fine engraving lines and vivid colours reflect the artistry and precision for which Hondius is known.
