Steven van Broeckhuysen

Steven van Broeckhuysen (also spelled van Brouckhuysen or Pietersz. van Broeckhuysen) was a Dutch cartographer and mapmaker active in the 17th century. He created detailed surveys and maps of regions in the Low Countries. He specialized in water management and land surveying. After his father died, Steven and Johannes Dou were appointed permanent surveyors. They mapped waterways and land in provinces like Holland and Utrecht. His work shows great precision and practical use in Dutch regional planning. This planning helped manage the extensive water infrastructure essential to the Netherlands. Van Broeckhuysen played a key role in Dutch Golden Age cartography
