The Merian Heirs of Frankfurt published it in 1677. The map shows the city before and after the Great Fire of 1666, with the burnt area rendered in white.<\/p>\n
The handcoloured engraving measures 30.5 x 43 cm and remains in good condition, with minor folds and restorations. The title scroll at the top carries the royal and city arms. At the bottom, a second scroll contains notes on the shading and an inset plan of Robert Hooke\u2019s proposed design for rebuilding the city, complete with a key and reference table.<\/p>\n
